schooner America was designed by Glen Steers and built in the shipyard of William Brown in 1851.
His name is still the most important and famous in? history of world yachting.
L? America, under the orders of Dick Brown, driver of New York, the rose? Anchor in June 1851 for? England to participate in the regatta to be held on August 22 on the course built around the Island of Wight without compensation for the difference in tonnage or rigging.

L? America won a stunning victory over the English squadron.
At its onset, the? America showed remarkable novelties in the shape of the hull especially as regards the lines? Water and the section, which was much earlier compared to hulls that time.
She also had a low Draught, fine lines, light displacement and a new cut considerably leaner sails and executed with a cotton cloth.
Cutting of 100 guineas, which later became s Cup? America still gives today ? hui its name to the largest regatta in the world.
