Pirate ship in 1775 
during the War of Revolution (1774-1776), some vessels were controlled by colonial government rebels to rob shops across the UK, and to capture, when hearts were possible, the British ships.
At the time of the revolution, Benjamin Franklin was ambassador to France.
He obtained permission? Buy two French privateers by the intermediary? Important shipowner.
These were the predecessors privateer Schooner Baltimore.
They were painted black to make them virtually invisible in the night.They were baptized Black Prince and Black Princess.
Their crews were Portuguese, but the captain was American.
They robbed the English merchant ships in the English coastal waters and for more? Year, they destroyed the British trade with the world.
