“The Red Arrow-9 anti-tank missile first appeared in a National Day parade on Oct. 1, 1999, and entered service in the late 1990s.

According to propaganda materials, the missile has a static armor penetration depth of 1,200 mm, which means it can penetrate the front armor of any main battle tank in service.

The PLA is equipped with the Red Arrow-9 anti-tank missile on a WZ550 4X4 armored vehicle chassis.

“The Red Arrow-9 wheeled anti-tank missile launcher can take a crew of three, and the optical equipment of the weapon station integrates the sighting and fire control systems and links up with four anti-tank missile tubes.

When the vehicle is on the march, the weapon station drops back into the hull to provide armor protection for the missile and sighting devices, and can carry eight spare rounds inside the vehicle.

The weapon station has a horizontal firing range of 200 degrees and a pitch angle of +/- 10 degrees. The fully automatic weapon station is controlled by the weapon operator inside the vehicle.

The vehicle has an overall combat weight of 13.75 tons and is equipped with a 320 hp fifth-wheel supercharged diesel engine.
